Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who produced Hamilton directed the musical. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. In two seasons, Ashford was the main character of CBS's hit comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin as well as Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards.
